December 13, 2002

Thanks to all who rang in the holiday season with Scamper at the Kirkland Cafe! It's always a blast to rock out with Mickey and the fans at Boston's premier Bohemian discotheque.

Scamper takes the rest of 2002 to buy presents and eggnog it up, but listen here. The band promises nothing short of Big Things in 2003, and we're just glad you're in with the program from the start. Here's proof: February is Scamper Month at the Abbey Lounge, where the band appears every Wednesday night with a host of amazing support. The very first show, Scamper is honored to be joined by 3 all-out incredible bands! Mark the calendars you receive in your stocking:

February 5, 2003
Week 1 of the Abbey Lounge residency
9:00 Kipper Tin
10:00 The Charms
11:00 Scamper
12:00 The Weisstronauts

December 9, 2002

Two big shows this week. First up is Marc Roderick's home away from home - Lowell, MA. Scamper will be playing an early set on Wednesday at Club Fuel (upstairs from the Blue Shammy). Bring an unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots folks and get a discount at the door. Then back in the metro area on Thursday, for the Holiday Party that is the Kirkland Cafe show. New material, kids! Oh yes. Bring an unwrapped toy for Scamper and get a hug from Nate.

November 18, 2002

Back from New York and back in business. Scamper now has clear sailing up until the Holiday Bash on December 12th at the Kirkland Cafe in Somerville. Bring your holiday cheer and corncob pipes as Scamper plans to deck your halls with old tunes and new.

November 11, 2002

Scamper has some treats in the oven for this winter... stay tuned and mark your calendars for the Holdiay Bash on December 12!

November 2, 2002

Much props out to our friends Nimmer, Catapult and The Spark for contributing to a stellar rock and roll show last night at the Abbey Lounge in Somerville. The night was a four-hour parade of splashy pop rock tunes, catchy riffs and stage madness - there's not much better than that my friends. Except perhaps Scamper advancing to the finals of the Beantown Meltdown. The semifinals are this Friday and the band needs you there! They feed off the crowd like nobody's business (ask patrons of the Abbey) and will do everything they can to give back the love they get. Seriously, if Scamper makes the finals of this thing, expect craziness not seen since Doc Brown's Delorean hit 88 MPH.

October 25, 2002

As you prepare your Halloween costumes this week, rest assured Scamper is preparing their musical assault on the senses for the upcoming busy month of November. The Beantown Meltdown looms large on Friday night November 8, and the band is counting on their loyal fans to come out in droves for this one! Up against tougher competition and with a trip to the finals on the line, Scamper will be set on delivering another knockout performance up on the big stage of the Goodtimes. As always it is the crowd support that gets it all going, so get your ticket ($5) from a band member and be part of the throng.

October 10, 2002

A new look for the website has arrived. More evolution will creep in during the upcoming weeks, so keep an eye out. Scamper is looking ahead to November, and there's lots coming up. The item the band needs your help with the most is of course the Beantown Meltdown - the semifinals take place on Friday November 8. Scamper needs you there! A trip to the finals means a lot, and crowd support is an essential ingredient in that happy casserole. Get your ticket from the band if you don't have one already!

October 7, 2002

Just when you thought it was safe to take some time off... That's right, you can't keep a good thing down. This Wednesday night in the heart of Boston, the Green Dragon has opened its doors to original rock music. It is a rare thing to find in Faneuil Hall, and the band is raring to go. Two sets of favorites and an oldie or two thrown in for good measure.

September 25, 2002

Sit back and relax. Scamper (so far) has the month of October off, and will use the time to get some new tunes ready for the public, move across town, have oral surgery, make posters, and generally get ready for the semifinals of the Meltdown. Hey! On Sunday nights, request Scamper on the local rock radio shows! Chris Rucker hosts WFNX 101.7's New England Product from 8:30 to 10:00PM. Then, DJ extraordinaire Shred hosts WBCN 104.1's Boston Emissions from 10:00 to midnight. Call in and request SCAMPER. Yaw!

September 19, 2002

There are some juicy shows coming up in the next couple of days. Friday night at Skybar should be a rock hoedown of grand proportions, and then Tuesday night at the Kendall Cafe... well you know as much about that show as the band does. Be prepared for some surprises! Scamper personally and highly recommends the acoustic music of Jon Gorey , in residency at the Kendall on Tuesday nights.

September 14, 2002

The tone was hard and heavy at the Meltdown last night, and Scamper was right there in the mix with their punk-pop panache. What with the huge crowd and fog machine, this was a Scamper show for the ages. UPDATE: Scamper has advanced to the semifinals! Mark your calendars for Friday night, November 8th!

September 13, 2002

Well, this is it. Tonight it all goes down. The first round of the Budweiser/FNX BEANTOWN MELTDOWN starts at the Goodtime Emporium. Scamper will be battling 5 other bands for a spot in the semifinals, to be played out next month. Thanks to all who got their early tickets from us! Don't despair if you don't yet have a ticket, they will be available at the door. Do come out for this; we will need all of your support to rock the roof off this place! (After the show, you might want to challenge the band to a little foosball.)

September 11, 2002

Scamper would like to take a moment to say thank you to those who risked and gave their lives during the rescues of last year's tragedy. While we are trying to move on with our lives, and focus on the positives in this world, we realize there are those people out there who were much more directly affected by the events than us. Our thoughts, especially today, go out to them and their familes.

August 7, 2002

Big news, folks! Scamper has just learned that they have been selected as one of 36 bands to participate in this year's Beantown Meltdown: Battle of the Bands! This is a great opportunity for the band and they need your support during the preliminary round on September 13! Get your ticket from your favorite band member today! Don't forget about the Kendall this Friday, dude.

July 30, 2002

Saving the World & Breaking Bricks is officically released, thanks to the highly fun release party help at the Middle East Sunday night. The first copies of the 13-song disc went like crazy, while on stage Scamper went, like, crazy. Two more shows in the next two weeks to fit into your busy schedule; make a note - the Toad show is FREE!

July 24, 2002

Steaming hot and directly off the presses, Scamper's new CD Saving the World & Breaking Bricks hits the streets this Sunday night at the release party. Be at the Middle East early to get a fresh copy and if you're lucky, some other goodies. Brace yourselves for the rock, faithful readers, brace yourselves.

July 8, 2002

Having successfully pummelled Albany with their phresh and phunky rock power, Scamper returns to Boston to put the finishing touches on the gleaming gem that is their forthcoming full-length album. Get your sweaty little hands on a hot copy of the disc at the CD release party -- July 28 at the Middle East! A review and photos from Valentine's are posted.

June 23, 2002

Scamper shifts its focus briefly away from performances in the next couple of weeks to give full attention to the recordings you've all been hearing about. Scamper will hop into the studio to record "Caramel" and "Rockette" with Boston's grooviest producer Pete Weiss. At the same time, a handful of songs are being home-brewed in Scamper's basement. All this tomfoolery means you should be holding a full-length Scamper CD at the end of July. Stay tuned.

June 13, 2002

Whoa brother this weekend is a doozy. First up is an out-of town gig for Scamper, a headlining and long-playing show deep in Walpole, MA. Friday night! The plan is to leave no one standing. Then on Saturday is the big 9-year anniversary bash at the Kirkland Cafe in Somerville. Scamper headlines this show also, and will definitely bring the sauce for the steaks. Or something. Also of note, the basement recording sesions are progressing, and things look on schedule for a July 28 CD release date!

May 31, 2002

Fantastic show last night at the Upstairs Lounge. A plethora of props to Fooled By April, Huck from Worcester, and Phil. Rock on, brothers. Scamper now slips into the murky shadows for a month of recording. With a pair of tunes produces by Boston's crack producer Pete Weiss, along with some tracks procured from Scamper's basement, a new CD will surface soon.

May 23, 2002

Scamper has the honor of being one of the very first bands to test the Upstairs Lounge as a house of rock. Come see how the experiment goes! As further incentive, this will be the band's last show for almost a month as they begin tinkering with some new recording equipment and putting together some tasty little rock nuggets for everyone to munch on. Mmmm, rock. Also, new photos and review from Sky Bar.

May 16, 2002

Two shows in two weeks. Rock makes you feel good, no? Come see what all the hype is about. In the words of Kool Aid Man, "Oh Yeah." And in the words of Toucan Sam, "Que pasa, toro?"

May 7, 2002

Scamper is still feeling warm and fuzzy about all the supporters who braved the rain on May 2 to celebrate a great night of rock with them at the Middle East. But fear not - work continues on three fronts: more upcoming shows, studio time being booked for June, and a home studio of sorts being prepared so we can put everyone's favorite tunes to tape! Tons of photos from the Middle East show are pouring in, and there are just as many of the crowd as of the bands! There's a quick write-up of the show to read and of course all the photos posted so far. Maybe you're in one too...

May 3, 2002

Wow. Mighty mighty fine show last night. It was incredible to play with such great bands in front of such great fans! The Middle East is often good to us, and last night was no exception! Capacity crowd! New photos from the show and a review of the night will be posted very soon!

April 24, 2002

There is much excitement in the air at Scamper camp. The guys are gearing up for May 2 in unprecedented fashion, working on some surprising new arrangements of classic Scamper songs. If you feel you need to be rocked, these new songs should do the trick. Scamper is also working on getting back into the studio, this time with a producer on hand to guide the rock. Good times, good times... more details on that soon!

April 12, 2002

A romping good time was had by all last night at the Abbey Lounge with our loyal crowd, and special props go out to our friends Fooled By April! They showed big sound and brotherly love in a ripping set to close the evening. New photos are posted. Also thanks to Dress Betty for opening the night and getting everyone all pumped up. Next on the agenda: details on the HUGE May 2 show at the Middle East.

April 2, 2002

New photos have been posted from the revelry that was last week's Kirkland Cafe show. Look for hair-related upgrades on several band members. For those who liked the vibe, Scamper will revisit the Kirkland in June for a big anniversary show!

March 28, 2002

The May 2 show has been announced! Scamper will be playing upstairs at the Middle East on that Thursday night, with friends Fooled By April and local rockers Pennywheel. Mark your calendars! This will be quite a night. New songs are pouring out of Scamper like fresh juice - get yourself to a show to check out the latest tunes.

March 14, 2002

Illness has struck the Scamper camp recently, forcing the Lowell acoustic performance to be rescheduled for sometime in April. Behind the veil of inertia, furious plans are being made for an amazing May show. We can't reveal the details yet, but rest assured it will be a thrilling night for rock and roll!

March 6, 2002

New photos have been posted from the Friday night Kendall Cafe show. A major Scamper thanks to all who were in attendance! Also, MP3s from the new EP are now available on our MP3.com page.

February 18, 2002
