As some of you may know, this summer I returned to higher education (or as my dad calls it " that high-falutin' book larnin'"). I'm dealing with the challenges of college classes for the first time since I was a much younger man. It's sort of fun, but also sort of creepy.
Yesterday, I turned in a 15-page paper to my professor (who is three years younger than me, by the by) and turned to the girl sitting next to me and said, "This is the first paper I've done since 1998."
Her eyes grew wide as she said, "In 1998, I was thirteen."
I'm officially "diversity in education." Damn.
I'm off to study for my first final since the late Adlai Stevenson administration. I know he didn't get elected, but damn it - he should have.

I'm on vacation from work, not the journal. I'll still be popping in here and there over the next few weeks.

Apparently, they make the 20-year olds hotter now than in our day. I think it has to do with iPod technology or something.
Observation: 20 is the age that Britney Spears ceased to be hot.

she was 20 when she filmed crossroads (one of my favorite films of the decade). even as a straight chick, i'll admit she was DAMN cute/hot in it.

yeah, its bad - i have no skill at judging the age of girls. I browse myspace inviting friends who i think i would consider hitting on if i did such things and i knew them in real life. and then i browse through my friends to discover 100s of 16-19 year old girls. (i'm 41).
i was recently having a conversation with a girl thinking i was 'making headway' when i mentioned a pink floyd show i saw in 1987 and she said "um, i was born that year"
