Good morning, my beautiful little bumblefucks. Even though it's already Wednesday, this week is dragging my ass down like a crap-covered albatross. Who do I have to blow to get a weekend around here, huh?

Normally, I like to hoard good money-making ideas, but I'm in the mood to share this morning. A few weeks ago, the lovely Johanna and I were chatting about Britney Spears driving with a baby on her lap, when we came up with an idea for a website:

www.whokilledbritneysbaby.com

At first, it was just going to be a series of riffs of the classic tasteless "dead baby" jokes, inserting the words "Britney's dead baby" (i.e. "What's pink and red and doesn't cry anymore? Britney's baby in a blender.") I know, I know - dead baby jokes are HORRIBLE. But when we're talking about Britney's baby, it takes the edge off a little bit, doesn't it? Or is that just me?

After we ran through a few ideas, Johanna really started thinking outside the box. Rather than just Britney's dead baby jokes, she came up with the idea of producing a series of short videos of Britney accidentally killing her baby in different bizarre ways. Britney running over the baby with her car, accidentally putting its head down the garbage disposal, etc. Quite frankly, I think it's genius.

Why am I sharing this killer idea with you all? Because what with my podcasting and Scampering and Johanna's work on trying to track down Nicole Brown's real killer (the early 90's were a great time for topical humor, weren't they?), we just don't have the time to make this creative vision a reality. But its important that this idea doesn't die on the berthing table. Someone out there must make www.whokilledbritneysbaby.com a reality. Come on, kids - the domain name is still available as of... now. So go to work, you sick little George Lucases.

Let us know if we can help you at all. Although quite a busy young lady, Johanna has expressed willingness to portray Britney.

I think the plural of George Lucas is George Luci.

Ha. You know, I think I actually saved this conversation because it amused me so. Starting with Brendan's, "Don't we all just expect this baby to die?"

I fully expected this thread to degenerate into a series of dead baby jokes. I'm simultaneously impressed and disappointed in you all.

What do you get when you strangle a baby?

well, with britney there are just so many...

"hit me baby one more time" can easily be turned into "hit MY baby one more time"

"oops i did it again" has so much potential as well.

it's almost like a complete mix match puzzle that has a variety of ways to put it together, all with the same outcome. (britney's dead baby)

"Hit My Baby One More Time" - Wow. That was an excellent joke, Stacy. I don't mean to act too surprised, but... wow.

We are going to be the topical humor of late February-early March '06! Look for Brendan to reference it in the Scamper blog of late 2014!

There's so many things funny about killing a baby! Oh, and Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend being killed is really funny too. What if these people were your relatives? IS ANYTHING SACRED?

Yeah, Brendo is the only one in the world that's ever made an OJ or a Britney Spears' baby joke.

If you're looking for sacred, you're reading the wrong website.

If Britney Spears were my relative, I'd start hitting her up for some cash before her deadbeat husband sucked her dry.

Some things just aren't funny and when people become adults, they can usually recognize this. And, some never will. Humor doesn't have to be in bad taste.

Thank you for your opinion - I respectfully disagree with it. I think laughing at the horrible things in life is a great healthy coping mechanism. Every bit of psychological research I read supports this assertion.

If you don't like my humor, you are more than welcome to stop reading. If you want to still keep reading and offer your opinion, you are of course welcome to do that as well. Thank you very much for taking the time to disagree with me.

There's no point even responding, brendo. Some people just like to be offended for some reason. That's why they read a local band's website that they clearly don't like. Why in the world would someone do that?

Some things I do find humorous. Some things are worth responding to. I think, as you grow older and wiser, maybe have children of your own, you will realize that being sensitive to other's tragedies is not only appropriate but humane. Just because you enjoy making light of a tragedy doesn't mean that everyone else had to agree with you and if you're going to put it out there, you're going to get a response. I am a clinical psychologist with a PhD and I never use humor for a coping mechanism nor do any of my colleagues nor does any conference I've attended or mentor I work with encourage or support your elementary way.

It sure does. I can't tell you the number of PhDs I know that spend most of their time posting anonymously on band's message boards not to be mean to Britney Spears's baby.

You're funny.

Actually, I like most of Brendan's writing. I find it funny, refreshing and well written. But given the opportunity to comment on something I don't agree with, I will and do. And since Brendan doesn't seem to mind, why do you? I don't think he needs your help.
