Once again the great hall at the Goodtime Emporium was rocking to the sounds of the Beantown Meltdown battle of the bands. Six bands in 30 minute chunks, running the gamut of musical genres, from hardcore metal (Downshaft) to goth (Mekanizm) to mellow fare (Peace Music) and so on. How to judge these apples and oranges against each other? We know not. Scamper ran into a plexiglass wall of sorts during their set, as the Rock and Roll Gods decided to test these men under extreme conditions. Technical entanglements seemed at every turn, sneaking up and biting our boys' bottoms. Those little scrapes in the end were too much for even Scamper to overcome, as they just missed the cut for advancement to the finals. Fear not young ones! This show tought us all one thing loud and clear: Scamper has the most raucous and thundering fans in the land. No question about it, the faithful did represent on this night! Packed right up to the stage, dozens of rows deep, singing along to every word... we've heard that despite the technicalities this was perhaps the best show to date as far as fan experience goes. Scamper unconditionally thanks their lucky stars for the fans they have. And that, you know, is what rock music is all about. |
