A stellar hellar night of rock and roll in Cambridge, and another capacity crowd. Who says the scene is dead? The Crumb Sullivans opened the show barefoot, switching it all around between blues rock and metal. The Scamper boys took slot two of the night, pulling out a set of newly-polished favorites and some of long-lost classics. It's been awhile since "Caramel" saw the light of day, no? The crowd was as enthusiastic as ever, full of faces old, new, and, um, young. Right on. Passenger and rawk-bros Fooled by April co-headlined the night, spinning the crowd into a virtual frenzy, and I use virtual here in the "almost but not quite" way, not the "created, simulated, or carried on by means of a computer or computer network" way. This was guaranteed to be the only bill in New England featuring covers of Tom Petty, Chris Isaak, The Cure, and Cheap Trick. Two shots of Jager is plenty, thanks. |
