Spread My Holiday Cheer All Over You
My word, there are a lot of sad posters appearing on the scampernet these days.

So, 'tis the season for local bands to write holiday rock songs. That there is something that Scamper never quite got around to doing. Oh, sure, there was "It's Hard to be a Pirate on Christmas," but that never made it off the Mirabella drawing board. And in 2002 we did a pretty kickass version of "Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland"...and then proceeded to play it out as late as February. Idiots.

Anyway. Give these a listen, via their conveniently linked Myspaces:
Aloud - "Put on the Parka"
The Self-Righteous Brothers - "Christmas Disco"
The Animal Closet - "Santa Sucks"

This Sunday, Dec 16, Age Rings and Hooray for Earth are at Great Scott, if you're willing to brave the second storm that's scheduled to slam our sorry New England asses.

Beyond that, TT's is pretty much the only place you need to be for what remains of 2007. The sad news is that longtime TT's bartender, and sweetheart to all, Jeanne has been diagnosed with cancer, and in true Boston fashion, everyone who's anyone (note: not Scamper) is playing a series of benefit shows in her honour. The 21st brings The Shods, The Pills, AdFrank, Downbeat 5, Joyce & Chick of Scarce, Auto Interiors, and Jonny Pape. The 27th has Taxpayer, The Appreciation Post, and The Everyday Visuals. The 28th features The Gravel Pit, Francine, Baker, The Douglas Fir, and Jules Verdone (and two special guests, who have yet to be announced) (note: not Scamper). And lastly, on the 29th, it's Buffalo Tom, Thalia Zedek, Meghan Toohey, The Painted Lights, and Keys To The Streets of Fear. All shows are $15, and I don't think I need to tell you that it's for a good cause.

Oh, and Saturday the 22nd? The Lemonheads at the Middle East down.

That oughtta keep you vultures quiet for awhile. I'll be back with my annual New Years shows & makeout recommendations -- and I just might be writing it from Florida.

Happy stuff to all.
